About Us

Hi! My name is Al Marx. After thirty-five years of service in numerous technical, managerial and staff assignments I retired from Verizon. After retirement, my love for dogs turned into my second career.

While completing requirements for training certification with PETsMART, I had the good fortune to intern under renowned trainers, George Cockrell and Margot Woods. I have participated in professional training seminars at the National Canine Training Academy in Columbus, Ohio and the Triple Crown Training Academy in Hutto, Texas and hold a Professional Membership with the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP). After five years of working with Companions Dog Training, LLC, I created and established Obedience Works, LLC in January 2004. Upon completion of IACP requirements I achieved the title Certified Dog Trainer.

Since 1998, We have trained over 6,000 dogs. Obedience Works offers individual private in home training and performs contract training with Montgomery County Invisible Fence. We have a unique ability to identify with dogs of all types applying both traditional and electronic training methods. We stand by our motto we will make your good dog a great dog. Moreover, make you an owner your dog will be proud of.

We provide professional dog training, puppy training and canine behavioral modification in Washington, DC., Maryland and Virginia including Montgomery County, Prince Georges County, Carroll County, Frederick County, Howard County, Fairfax County and Arlington County.
